»CPT can start from orientation and can be authorized for up to a year, renewable without gaps. If an employer doesn't sign a CPT Agreement, students can discuss alternatives with their Advisor.
1.Discuss CPT application with your Academic Advisor and the Office of International Services.
2.Obtain an Employment Letter from your employer, which should include:
-Work dates
-Job description
-Weekly working hours
3.Choose a 0.5-credit CPT course and submit the Employment Letter and other CPT application forms to your Academic Advisor.
4.The Office of International Services will review your documents. Once approved, they'll update your I-20.
5.With the updated I-20, start working based on the CPT start date mentioned.

Trine University Academic Structure:
- »Trine University has three semesters annually: Fall, Spring, and Summer.
- »Summer is a short semester, about 2 months. Fall and Spring are longer, roughly 3.5 months each, divided into Term 1 and Term 2. Breaks are scheduled within semesters.
Course Requirements for International Students:
- »Students must take a minimum of two courses (6 credits) each semester.
- »They can opt for one Hybrid course with Onsite sessions and one purely Online course. On average, only one session is needed per Term.
- »Onsite sessions occur once a semester, typically on weekends from 8 AM to 5 PM. (Plans are in place to increase this to twice a semester or once per term.)
- »Attendance for Onsite sessions is mandatory. Missing them risks losing F1 status.
Online Learning:
- »Apart from the Onsite day, most courses are conducted on the university's online platform, Moodle.
- »While some courses have live Zoom sessions, most are pre-recorded or offer optional Zoom discussions. This format provides students with flexibility in their study schedules.
Summer Term and CPT:
- »Students can apply for a break during the Summer term without completing a full academic year.
- »Even during the Summer break, students can choose a 0.5-credit CPT course for full-time work.
Important Note:
- »Maintain a GPA above 3.0 during your studies. Falling below this threshold not only jeopardizes graduation but also terminates Full-time CPT privileges.
